I can't see Scott Gimple being such a douche as to have Beth go through all of that just to die in the end. I guess it would add an emotional punch, but it would still be a douche bag move.
I always have doubt, about every character with the exceptions of Rick, Carl, Daryl and maybe Michonne.
Narratively speaking, I don’t think it makes sense for Beth to die this season. I never have. And like you said, especially considering the spoiler clips, I think it makes even LESS sense. Introduce her arc in 5x04 only to have her die in 5x08 (and likely not seen in 5x05 or 5x06). Probably not. I think it’s much more likely that she’s somehow separated from the group again, probably under her own power. She escapes the hospital somehow, perhaps going for help for Carol, and misses Team Family’s rescue mission and she’s out on her own for a while. That seems to jive more with what we’ve seen of her season 5 character arc than being featured in three episodes of sixteen only to die.
If the “filming spoilers” (which should ALWAYS be taken with a grain of salt) are true, Emily hasn’t been on set or in GA during filming since 5x09. Say she comes back during 5x14 (which would be if she returned next Monday), that’s just about the same amount of time, episode wise, that Melissa McBride was missing from set last season. Carol’s pretty alive the last time I checked. There are SO MANY possibilities for her character, so many things Beth could be up to, so many people she could run into (okay, one person, *cough*Morgan*cough*). Of course she could be dead. This is TWD. That’s always a risk, sometimes people are just going to die and that’s part of watching the show, but no matter how much I try to work it out in my head (and believe me I’ve played many games of, “Okay, so if someone told me Beth HAD to die, how would I do it?” in my head) it doesn’t make much sense.
